Why Nursing Diversity Matters

The United States is facing a nursing shortage that is projected to intensify over the next decade. At the same time, the nursing workforce remains far less diverse than the patients it serves. Research consistently shows that patients receive better care when their providers share their cultural background and lived experience — yet Black, Hispanic, and Indigenous nurses remain significantly underrepresented in the profession.
